Halushky is a dish of Ukrainian national cuisine. Cottage cheese Halushky can serve as a perfect breakfast. They are made of flour, semolina, cottage cheese, potatoes etc.
I’m not the only one to see the similarity to Italian Gnocchi, especially potato Halushky.
They differ in form – Halushky are usually cut in squares.
Ingredients
- 200 gr cottage cheese, preferably low-fat
- 1 egg
- 50 gr melted butter
- 50 gr powdered sugar
- 4-5 tbsp all-purpose flour, you can use more, depending on the cheese you use
- Salt

Method of cooking
Rub the cheese through a sieve. Add an egg and melted butter, stir well.
Add powdered sugar, salt, stir and gradually introduce flour. The dough has to hold its shape.
Put the dough on the table and knead well, sprinkle with flour so that it does not stick to the table.
Roll the dough out with a rolling pin till 0.5 cm thick. Cut into squares using a dough cutter with a curved blade.
