I remember August holidays from my childhood. For us, it was a time of delicious homemade bakery with poppy seeds and apples. And honey from our own mini apiary. Even the air smelled of ripe fruit and honey.
We often had sweet dishes with poppy seeds at home – pies, dumplings, rolls, even the big pie that my grandmother Shura baked for everyone’s birthday was with poppy seeds.
Poppy filling
- 250 gr poppy seeds
- Water
- Milk
- 2 - 3 tbsp of jam
- Honey
- 1 apple or pear
Pour cold water over the poppy seeds so that the water covers it. Cook after boiling for 10 minutes. Drain the water, pour milk and cook again for 10 minutes.
You need to grind the poppy seeds well and add your favorite jam, honey.
You can also add cubed caramelized apple or pear to poppy seeds.

Crepes classic
- 1 liter of milk
- 5 eggs
- 100 gr sugar
- 2 tbsp oil
- Salt
- 7-8 tbsp all-purpose flour
- Butter for frying
- 2 tbsp honey
- 50 gr nuts
- 1 apple
Mix the eggs with sugar using a whisk. Add salt, oil, and half of the flour. Start pouring the milk, stirring the mixture well with a whisk. Add the rest of the flour. Look at the consistency, you may still need flour.
Fry the crepes on both sides, grease the pan with butter or oil using a brush.
Put poppy seeds on the entire surface of the crepe, wrap it up. You can fry it in butter on a pan.
Serve with honey, nuts, apples.
