Cross buns is a typical breakfast served on Sundays with butter, jams, and other festive appetizers.
With time, these buns started to be made with chocolate, different fillings and tastes, as well as Ukrainian paska bread.
I thought that if you have no possibility to bake paska bread, there is an easy and fast way to bake English cross buns instead. They are extremely delicious, the dough contains lots of spices, orange zest, and rum-soaked raisins. It is just a perfect dish for breakfast.
Ingredients for the dough
- 500 gr all-purpose flour
- 60 gr butter

- 70 gr sugar
- Orange zest
- 1 egg
- Salt
- 0.5 tsp each of cinnamon, nutmeg, cardamom
- 100 g of raisins soaked in dark rum
- 100 gr dark rum
