This dessert is made really quick, it requires no baking, and tastes great, especially with coffee when chilled. Some of my readers have noted that this dish resembles a traditional
Moldovan dessert. If you want to make it Moldovan-style, put prunes and nuts in a saucepan, cover in red wine, add sugar to taste, and simmer for 20 minutes. Cool, then top with whipped cream.
You will need a tray for 20×20 cm or portioned molds.
Ingredients
- 200–250 gr of prunes
- Walnuts
- 800 gr of sour cream 25%
- 150 gr of fat cream 33%
- 100–200 gr of powdered sugar (to taste)
- 2 tsp of vanilla paste or extract
- 20 gr of coffee or nut liqueur (optional)
- Dark chocolate for decoration

Cooking method
Strain the sour cream through cheesecloth overnight to drain excess liquid – the cream will become thicker.
Wash the prunes and soak them in nut liqueur for 30 minutes. You can also use limoncello, orange liqueur or plain water (if the dessert will be served to children as well).
Insert a nut into each prune. If the prunes are large, you can cut them in half and put a nut inside.
Whip together sour cream, cream, powdered sugar and vanilla with a mixer until it gets smooth.
Put half of the cream on the bottom of the mold, place the prunes on top, and pour the rest of the cream.
Cool the dessert well in the refrigerator and grate dark chocolate on top before serving.
